Grading System

Students are obligated to show progress during the course and to maintain passing grades. Students who are not maintaining minimum satisfactory progress at the time of evaluation will be put on attendance/academic review and have until the end of the review period to correct the problem. If at the end of the review period the student has not met minimum satisfactory progress, they will be placed on a payment plan for the balance of tuition or be terminated.

The marking is as follows:

95% to 100% = Excellent 4.0 75% to 84% = Satisfactory 2.0
85% to 94% = Good 3.0 74% or Below = Failure
Grading students is accomplished by written and oral examinations in both theory and practical experience. All operations performed in the student clinics are graded. Records are kept of grades, progress, and attendance; and these records are open to students at all times.

Graduation Requirements

Students will be eligible to take the Michigan State Board of Cosmetology examinations upon satisfactorily completing 1500 clock hours of practical and theoretical cosmetology training. Cosmetologists taking the Instructor's Course must finish 600 hours of training. Manicuring Course students must complete 600 hours of training.
